Its surface was largely water, interspersed with rocky islands, inlets, mesas, lakes, and beaches, also featuring enormous canyons and arid trees. The squigglies populating the lakes and rivers attracted fishermen of numerous species, including the Keredians, who came to fish. However, by 5 BBY, the Prison Complex's pollution irrevocably damaged the waters, leading to a decline in the squigglie population and sparking anger among the fishing communities.
Cassian Andor found himself incarcerated at the Imperial Prison Complex on this moon in 5 BBY, following his arrest and sentencing on Niamos. Hundreds of inmates toiled in twelve-hour shifts, constructing components for the Empire. Later, Andor, along with fellow inmate Ruescott Melshi, made their escape across the moon's terrain during the Narkina 5 prison escape.
The initial glimpse of Narkina 5 occurred in the teaser trailer for the Andor television series, which debuted on May 26, 2022. Its first full appearance was in "Narkina 5," the series' eighth episode, broadcast on October 26, 2022. The moon's beach scene was filmed at Middle Peak Quarry, situated in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, within the United Kingdom.
