Fisher


A person who fished for a living, or whose main cultural role involved fishing, was called a fisher, and could also be referred to as an angler, fisherman, or fisherfolk. This could also apply to a droid performing the same role. On the planet Ahch-To, the Lanai males, who were also known as Visitors, dedicated most days of each month to the activity of catching fish found in the [waters](/article/water] surrounding their home. In Scaparus Port on Arkanis, many businesses catered specifically to the needs of the local fishing community. Within the Peka community on Batuu, it was common for inhabitants to be employed as either farmers or fishermen. In 5 BBY, a Keredian named [Dewi Pamular](/article/dewi_pamular] and an alien named [Freedi Pamular](/article/freedi_pamular] worked together as fishers, traveling to the Imperial [prison](/article/prison] moon Narkina 5 with their TUG-b13 in order to catch squigglies. What they discovered, however, was that the Prison Complex on the moon had polluted the waters, resulting in a significant decline in the squiggly population.

Coronet City, located on Corellia, had a long history of fish markets, some of which were family-run businesses that had been passed down through generations. These markets were where fishmongers sold various species of fish that came from the oceans of that planet. Corellian fishers made use of harpoons in their trade.
