Rumitaka, a diminutive and arid planet, resided within the Five Points system situated in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy.
Positioned in the Outer Rim Territories, Rumitaka was one of five planets comprising the appropriately named Five Points system. This small, arid world lacked significant hyperlanes connecting it to other regions.
Rumitaka featured a modest spaceport, smaller mining activities in its southern region (including a refinery), and irrigated agricultural areas in the north. A significant population of junk dealers called it home, and an Imperial contingent maintained a presence.
Approximately in 3 BBY, Jyn Erso journeyed to Rumitaka from the Five Points space station. After her arrival, she sold the stolen ship to Risi Amps, a junk dealer, before promptly securing transport back to Uchinao from the spaceport, thus starting her wandering existence. On one occasion, she encountered a splicer who she was aware remained on Rumitaka.
After several years spent wandering, Erso returned to Rumitaka and accepted employment with Amps, fabricating identification codes and ship documentation for the junk dealer's sales. They established a deal where Erso supplied Amps with the documents and rented a room in a dilapidated house. Eventually, Erso suspected that Amps was probably in league with a partisan rebel faction. Subsequently, both were apprehended by Imperial Admiral Bethava Rocwyn.
