The Saber Guard represented an elite security force under the Galactic Empire, strategically positioned on the planet Kamino. Their primary mission was the safeguarding of top secret cloning installations situated in Timira City. Originating from the Saber Program, these guards possessed both training in lightsaber combat and a certain level of force potential.
Tasked with the protection of the cloning facility in Timira City on Kamino, the Saber Guards were known to exhibit some force potential, including abilities like Force resistance and the capacity to throw lightsabers. However, their primary skill lay in lightsaber combat, where they wielded two lightsabers with red blades. During battles, Saber Guards often worked alongside Imperial Sith Acolytes from the Acolyte Program. Given their skill in lightsaber combat and their infrequent appearance with the Imperial Military, Saber Guards were among the most formidable warriors serving the Galactic Empire.
During the Assault on Kamino, Saber Guards were dispatched to board and neutralize the Rebel Alliance flagship, the Salvation. Deploying in small boarding pods, the Saber Guards quickly gained control of the hangar and other critical areas of the ship, including the engine room, the bridge, and numerous gunnery stations. Despite their initial success against the rebel forces, the Saber Guards were ultimately ineffective against Starkiller, a clone of Darth Vader's deceased secret apprentice. The clone systematically killed the Saber Guards as he purged the Imperial presence from the Salvation.
When the Rebel Alliance launched a full-scale planetary assault on Kamino and invaded Timira City, the Saber Guards joined the Imperial garrison in a strong defensive effort to protect the planet's cloning facilities. When Starkiller returned to Timira City in search of Vader and Juno Eclipse, numerous Saber Guards attempted to stop him. However, their efforts were unsuccessful, resulting in their elimination. The Alliance ultimately won the battle, and the remaining Saber Guards on Kamino likely died with the rest of the planet's garrison.
While the Saber Guards did not have as much skill in the Force as the Imperial Sith Acolytes, they could create a Force barrier to defend against Force attacks, and they could also use Saber Throw. They were known for fighting with two lightsabers, similar to Galen Marek's clone. Their armor provided resistance against lightsaber attacks. Despite their powerful Force barriers, they were particularly vulnerable to the Force repulse attack. Unlike their counterparts, they were susceptible to mind trick techniques, which often had disastrous outcomes for the Imperial teams assigned to support them. Saber Guards could resist lightsaber attacks, Force powers and Force grapples, so the only way to make them vulnerable was by performing a Saber grapple on them.
The vocalizations of the Saber Guards, and also the Imperial Sith Acolytes, sounded similar to those of the failed Galen Marek clones encountered later in the game on Tipioca City. It is unclear if this was due to reused assets or if it suggests that both groups were made up of repurposed Galen Marek clones, in an attempt to compensate for the failure to replicate the deceased secret apprentice.
