Santhou Lazith'chika

Santhou Lazith'chika, an alien male, served the Rebel Alliance as a significant advisor to both Lens and Mikka Reekeene, the individuals who established Reekeene's Roughnecks. Even without holding a military rank, Lazith'chika possessed influence over numerous Rebel Alliance members. He frequently participated in the Roughnecks' briefings and debriefings, which included individuals like Tay Vanis and the Green squad. Despite the ambiguity surrounding his past and motivations, the Reekeenes held Lazith'chika in high regard, resulting in the Roughnecks treating him with respect.

Belonging to a species that was humanoid yet appeared corpse-like, Lazith'chika was perceived as unsettling by the Humans around him. However, a closer examination of his actions revealed a kind-hearted nature. Being secretly Force-sensitive, Lazith'chika harbored fear of the Galactic Empire's Jedi hunters, leading him to conceal his abilities by feigning eccentricity and harmlessness.

Biography

Santhou Lazith'chika was an alien male figure, identified as a member of a humanoid species. It was rumored that he was part of a race known for its longevity; he himself mentioned traveling the galaxy for over two centuries, but he declined to share more details about his origins. As a Force-sensitive individual, Lazith'chika had acquired a degree of mastery over the power of the Force, following a path distinct from that of the Jedi Order. During the Galactic Empire's rule, Lazith'chika feared that Emperor Palpatine's agents might target him due to his knowledge of the light side of the Force. Consequently, Lazith'chika chose to suppress his talents and present himself as a comical and harmless eccentric.

Eventually, Lazith'chika encountered Lens Reekeene, a mercenary, and her spouse, Mikka Reekeene, an engineer. The Reekeenes had become part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, where Lens had achieved a prominent position. Lazith'chika shared limited information about his past with the Reekeenes, but he gained their confidence and became Mikka's primary advisor, and Lens' second advisor after Mikka.

Subsequently, the Reekeenes and Lazith'chika established Reekeene's Roughnecks, a guerrilla group dedicated to disrupting Imperial forces in the Fakir sector. Their aim was to draw Imperial attention, thus diverting Imperial resources away from engaging the Alliance Fleet. As leading members of the Roughnecks, Lazith'chika and the Reekeenes conducted briefings for the members of each sub-team and addressed their inquiries. Moreover, as a security measure, Roughnecks who had received a mission briefing were only permitted to communicate with Lazith'chika or the Reekeenes.

For example, in 0 ABY, Lazith'chika assisted Lens Reekeene in briefing the Roughnecks' Green squad for a diplomatic undertaking on Masterhome. Reekeene and Lazith'chika used holograms to communicate with Green squad. After Reekeene outlined their objectives, Lazith'chika provided details about the individuals they would be interacting with and the potential negotiations that might ensue.

Around that time, Lazith'chika, cloaked and silent, accompanied the Reekeenes and Rebel Lieutenant Am Serro on board the Home, a modified Tsukkian water freighter serving as the Roughnecks' mobile base, to hear the report from special operative Tay "Tiree" Vanis' twentieth mission. Vanis had been unsuccessful in recruiting new agents, but he had completed enough missions to necessitate his retirement, as stipulated by standard Rebel Alliance protocols that required agents to retire after their twentieth mission. Nonetheless, Lens Reekeene assigned him a new task, and neither Lazith'chika nor any of the other officers raised objections to this deviation from established policy.

Personality and traits

Santhou Lazith'chika presented as a gaunt, two-meter-tall alien, characterized by sickly gray skin and eyes that were larger than those of a Human. Although largely humanoid in form, he possessed an additional joint in each leg and maintained a notably low body temperature. Humans generally found his appearance macabre. Lazith'chika amplified this perception by favoring dark robes and adopting the somber, theatrical mannerisms of gravediggers from low-budget holofilms, speaking deliberately and feigning pessimism. Despite this facade, Lazith'chika was inherently kind, and this quality occasionally shone through his disguise.

Lazith'chika possessed a limited degree of control over the Force, but he refrained from publicly demonstrating his abilities. He had also extensively studied the planets of the galaxy, the species inhabiting them, and their respective languages.

Despite being regarded as a high-ranking officer within the Rebel Alliance, Lazith'chika declined to wear any identifying insignia due to his aversion to military symbols.

Behind the scenes

The character of Santhou Lazith'chika made his debut in "Tests of the Godking," a chapter within the role-playing book Star Wars Campaign Pack, authored by Paul Murphy and released by West End Games in 1988. His first visual representation appeared in the webcomic Rookies: Rendezvous (2006) created by Pablo Hidalgo. Lazith'chika's role-playing statistics adhered to the "Alien student of the Force" template. A defining characteristic of this template is that the character belongs to a relatively unknown species, as highlighted by the fact that no other character is familiar with Lazith'chika's species.
