Publisher's summary

This Star Wars story follows Alphabet Squadron as they persist in their pursuit of the galaxy's most lethal TIE fighter group!

The New Republic's triumph echoes throughout the cosmos. Following this victory, the galactic government's newly sanctioned capital ships venture to the most remote stars, aiming to suppress and eliminate the lingering vestiges of Imperial oppression. However, some enduring legacies prove more challenging to eradicate. Shadow Wing stands out as a particularly formidable threat.

Yrica Quell's diverse Alphabet Squadron remains at the forefront of the Shadow Wing hunt, yet their objective remains elusive. The escalating pressure to locate their target before it's too late is causing internal rifts. Driven, Quell collaborates with the New Republic Intelligence's argumentative Caern Adan and the esteemed General Hera Syndulla to devise an exceptionally risky strategy—a trap designed to ensnare Shadow Wing and potentially conclude the pursuit definitively.

Unbeknownst to them, their adversary has undergone significant changes in the shadows. Soran Keize, the last of the elite Imperial pilots, has ascended to lead Shadow Wing, revitalizing the struggling unit in its most desperate hour. Having navigated the tumultuous aftermath of the war, Keize has rediscovered purpose by guiding his unit's displaced soldiers toward safety. The primary obstacle in his path? The New Republic Navy's most unconventional squadron, led by his former protégé: the turncoat Yrica Quell.

Plot summary

Continuity

Within the narrative of Shadow Fall, the Temperance is portrayed as an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate. This depiction clashes with its appearance in the Star Wars: Squadrons video game, where it is represented as an MC75 Star Cruiser. Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin has since confirmed that this was an error in the novel, with the possibility of correction in later editions.
