The Shadow Fist operated as a highly skilled commando group within the reorganized Sith Empire. They participated in the Sith Emperor's war against the Galactic Republic, fighting the Republic Military. Records indicate frequent encounters with Havoc Squad from the Republic Special Forces. Harron Tavus noted their exceptional combat abilities, describing them as remarkably challenging adversaries. The Shadow Fist's members were regarded as some of the Sith Emperor's most lethal operatives.
During the Cold War, Tavus, along with most of Havoc Squad, abandoned the Republic and allied themselves with the Sith. This defection stemmed from their perception of abandonment by the Galactic Senate following an event on Ando Prime. However, the remaining loyal member of Havoc Squad assembled a new team to hunt down the defectors. After the loss of Needles, Tavus chose to seek assistance from his former foes, the Shadow Fist, to eliminate the new Havoc Squad leader. At this point, the unit consisted of five members. They employed stealth field generators in an attempt to ambush their target, but the Republic trooper eliminated them.
