Shalini
Shalini was a female Human Typha-Dor resistance fighter, belonging to the female gender, who was stationed on TY44. She held the position of crew leader at the clandestine satellite outpost, while her husband, Mezdec, acted as her first officer, managing communications. However, Mezdec turned out to be a betrayer, secretly working for Van-Ith, the ruler of Vanqor, the planet that was preparing to invade Typha-Dor.
In the year 25 BBY, after Shalini's original disk containing Vanqor's plans for the invasion of Typha-Dor was pilfered by her treacherous spouse, she gave a second copy of the disk to Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi Padawan, tasking him with delivering it to the leadership of her home planet.
However, Shalini, along with her TY44 outpost team, which included Skywalker, were apprehended on Vanqor and transported to The Tomo Camp, a prisoner-of-war camp located in the Tomo Craters area of Vanqor. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Skywalker's Master, later rescued him, and together they successfully delivered the disk detailing Vanqor's invasion to Typha-Dor. Later, Shalini and her fellow crew members were liberated thanks to the efforts of Skywalker, Kenobi, and Siri Tachi.
Shalini was described as a woman of slender build with silvery-colored eyes.
Behind the scenes
Shalini's motivation for entrusting the Vanqor invasion plans disk to Skywalker stemmed from her desire for the young Jedi to somehow ensure that this crucial, time-sensitive information reached the governing officials of her home world directly. This was crucial so that they could be informed about Vanqor's invasion strategy, which was scheduled to commence within a matter of days. In The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, it states that Shalini entrusted the disk to the Jedi in order to transmit the information "back to the Republic." However, in Jude Watson's Jedi Quest: The Moment of Truth, there is no mention of the Republic ever being informed about the disk. As a prisoner at Tomo Camp, stripped of all his belongings, including his comlink, utility belt, and lightsaber, Skywalker lacked the means to communicate this information to anyone in the galaxy. The only way he could do so was through his Master's rescue, the retrieval of his belongings, and, after fighting through a gundark nest to secure transport, rushing to deliver the disk (just in time) to the governing officials of Typha-Dor. This was the sole reason and intent behind Shalini's decision to give him the disk: to provide Typha-Dor with its only hope of avoiding the invasion.
