Shalo, a male Human, operated a cantina situated in Mos Eisley during the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Initially, Shalo was a small-time criminal working for Durga Besadii Tai. He would later be employed by Hirth, but their association deteriorated, leading him to reconnect with the Hutts, who subsequently dispatched him to Tatooine. When the Yuuzhan Vong invaded Nal Hutta, Shalo managed to seize a significant portion of his employer's assets. While establishing the Great River, Han and Jacen Solo arrived to investigate the destination of the slaves he was sending to the Yuuzhan Vong. Shalo attempted to capture Jacen, hoping to claim the reward offered by Warmaster Tsavong Lah, but Talon Karrde and Shada D'ukal secured assistance from the Smugglers' Alliance to repel Shalo's reinforcements. Shalo eventually confessed that a convoy transporting slaves, spice, and weaponry was headed for Ylesia and was scheduled to make a stop on Tatooine.
In The New Jedi Order Sourcebook, Shalo was incorrectly labeled as a Rodian.
