Gray fragments, which emitted a blue glow during the night, were discovered by a person on the world of Carajam. This occurred in the timeframe spanning from 2 BBY to 4 ABY. Subsequently, the outlaws Zingo Gabnit and Turfitch took possession of these fragments, intending to murder the individual to safeguard the shards' existence. However, their plan was disrupted by the arrival of the mercenary Boba Fett. Later, Gabnit unsuccessfully tried to use the shards as a bribe to Fett, attempting to save himself.
These gray shards, located on the [desert](/article/desert] planet of Carajam in the Outer Rim Territories, possessed the characteristic of glowing blue when exposed to nighttime conditions.

A person initially found the shards sometime between 2 BBY and 4 ABY. This person then handed them over to the criminals Zingo Gabnit and Turfitch. Turfitch then carried the shards in a sieve, while Gabnit made preparations to eliminate the person in order to maintain the secrecy surrounding the shards. This resulted in the person offering the shards without condition, and promising to remain silent about the matter in exchange for their life. The person was unintentionally saved when the criminals noticed the imposing bounty hunter [Boba Fett](/article/boba_fett] in the distance, which allowed her to escape while Gabnit and Turfitch retained the shards and prepared to deal with Fett.
Fett initially paid no attention to the two, but later tracked Gabnit to collect a bounty of 100,000 credits placed on him. After Fett had him cornered, Gabnit attempted to bribe him into forming an alliance, offering the shards—which he kept in a pouch—as a down payment, claiming that they were worth more than his 100,000 credit bounty. Fett declined the offer and claimed the bounty instead.
These shards were created specifically for the one-shot comic Age of Rebellion - Boba Fett 1. Greg Pak wrote the story, Marc Laming provided the pencils, and Marvel Comics published it on May 8, 2019 as part of the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion comic series. Before the comic was released, the shards were initially depicted, although not named, in an article featured on StarWars.com on April 15, 2019, which served as a preview for the comic.
