Shasa Tiel, an Ishi Tib accountant of great ambition, oversaw the immense wealth of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, the Hutt crime lord. Tiel was asleep on Jabba's dais within the Hutt's palace when Princess Leia Organa, disguised as the bounty hunter Boushh, tried to free Han Solo, the smuggler, from his carbonite imprisonment. The Ishi Tib was also there when Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Knight, arrived to negotiate Solo's freedom with Jabba, a negotiation that failed and resulted in Skywalker being thrown into the Hutt's rancor pit. Tiel subsequently journeyed on Khetanna to witness the scheduled execution of Skywalker, Solo, and Chewbacca, the Wookiee.
The character of Shasa Tiel was brought to life by puppeteer Andy Cunningham in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, a film from the 1983 original trilogy.
