The Ishi Tib were a species of sentient, humanoid amphibians originating from the planet of Tibrin. Their skin tone varied across a spectrum from green to blue, and they possessed notable large eyes that protruded from stalks situated on each side of their head, in addition to a mouth shaped like a beak. Certain individuals were observed working for Jabba the Hutt, while others took up arms for the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

The sentient humanoid amphibians known as Ishi Tib originated on the planet Tibrin. A key characteristic was their skin, which could be either green or blue. They also had distinctive large eyes that extended from angular stalks located on the sides of their skulls, and beak-like mouths. In Ishi Tib society, a silent beak opening was the equivalent of a human frown. They possessed a highly developed sense of smell, effective both on land and underwater, though they were most at ease in aquatic environments.
The Ishi Tib were indigenous to Tibrin, a world largely dominated by surface water, and they established their communities on top of the waves of their homeworld's oceans. Tibrina, the capital city of Tibrin, exemplified this, existing at least partially above the ocean's surface. The administration of Tibrin was overseen by a Mariod, while spiritual leadership was provided by a Kalikeedan, a prominent religious leader in the area.
Certain Ishi Tib engaged in illicit activities such as piracy or worked for powerful crime lords. One such individual was affiliated with the Ohnaka Gang, and at least two others were employed by Jabba the Hutt. Pendewqell, another Ishi Tib, worked for Sidon Ithano. However, many Ishi Tib pursued careers in more conventional settings. Among these were Gume Saam, a senator representing the Techno Union, and Gani Riduli, who represented the Banking Clan in the Imperial Senate.
Govi held the position of Mariod of Tibrin during the early years of the Galactic Civil War. During this conflict, some Ishi Tib joined the ranks of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, including Volk Aymeric, who served as the captain of an EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate.
The Ishi Tib species made their debut appearance in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, directed by Richard Marquand, in 1983. Their identification was confirmed in the episode guide accompanying the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode titled "A Test of Strength."
