Following his rise to become the Dark Lord of the Sith during the year 5000 BBY, Naga Sadow gathered together a huge fleet of warships, intending to use them to launch an invasion against the Galactic Republic. Subsequently, Sadow commanded the Sith invasion fleet throughout the conflict referred to as the Great Hyperspace War. After suffering a loss against the Republic, Naga Sadow took the fleet back to Korriban with the goal of reconstruction, but encountered the newly appointed Dark Lord Ludo Kressh, who banished him and his warriors from the Sith Empire when Sadow declined to give up. Refusing to accept his banishment, Sadow destroyed a number of his remaining vessels to overcome Kressh's army. The victory came at a high cost, as the fleet was significantly diminished, and by the time the Republic and Jedi Order finally located Sadow and his forces, only a single ship remained, which was forced to flee.
