Shar Dakhan, identified as a Sith Lord, played a significant role in the events leading up to the Great Hyperspace War. Operating from his stronghold on the Sith Space world of Ch'hodos, Dakhan exerted his influence. In the year 5000 BBY, Dakhan committed his entire fleet to the cause of Dark Lord of the Sith Naga Sadow, who was then preparing for conflict with the Galactic Republic. To commemorate this alliance, Dakhan orchestrated a grand war rally on Ch'hodos, showcasing extensive formations of soldiers, formidable warbeasts, and powerful warships. Later, Dakhan's fleet participated in the Sith invasion during the Great Hyperspace War, with Dakhan himself leading the Sith forces in the attack on the Republic capital of Coruscant. Despite facing a smaller contingent of Jedi and Republic soldiers, Dakhan's forces were ultimately defeated. Following their setback in Republic territory, Shar Dakhan retreated to the Sith Empire with the surviving Sith forces, engaging in a skirmish near Korriban against pursuing Republic forces. As the battle neared its end, Sadow was cornered and forced to escape; subsequently, Dakhan assumed command, but his forces suffered another defeat.
A male member of the Sith species, Shar Dakhan held the title of Sith Lord during the period preceding the Great Hyperspace War. Dakhan's dominion extended over the world of Ch'hodos, situated in the northern reaches of the Unknown Regions within Sith Space, which functioned as his primary headquarters. In 5000 BBY, following the death of Dark Lord of the Sith Marka Ragnos, the ambitious Sith Lord Naga Sadow ascended to power. After triumphing over his rival, Ludo Kressh, in the Battle of Khar Delba, Sadow revealed his intentions to launch an assault on the Galactic Republic. Dakhan expressed his support for Sadow and pledged his personal fleet to aid Sadow's war endeavors. Shortly thereafter, Dakhan organized a war rally at his personal fortress on Ch'hodos, showcasing legions of Sith Massassi warriors, numerous warships, and imposing Sith war behemoths. Dakhan himself was mounted atop a massive green Sith war rhino.
Dakhan later joined Sadow's invasion force during the Great Hyperspace War, personally commanding the Sith attack on the Republic capital of Coruscant after Sadow instructed Dakhan and the Sith forces to seize control of the planet. Dakhan's offensive pushed back the Republic forces to the very steps of the Senate Hall. Sadow bolstered Dakhan's forces by amplifying their numbers through Sith illusions, creating the illusion of a much larger army. A small detachment of Jedi and Republic soldiers valiantly defended the Senate Hall, holding their ground until Sadow's concentration faltered and the illusions dissipated. Inspired by this turn of events, the Jedi launched a counterattack on Dakhan's forces, leading to their defeat. Dakhan survived the battle and retreated to the Sith Empire with the remaining Sith forces. Pursued by the Republic, Dakhan participated in the ensuing second battle of Korriban. As Sadow was compelled to flee the battle, Dakhan assumed the role of acting Dark Lord.
Following the war's conclusion, during the subsequent Jedi-Republic counterinvasion of the Sith Empire, Shar Dakhan, serving as acting Dark Lord, oversaw the Empire's defense alongside the Sith survivors who chose to continue their resistance against the Republic. Suicide attacks executed under Dakhan's command successfully drove Republic occupation forces out of the Horuset system, during which Sith survivors emerged from the ruined tombs and cities where they had sought refuge. In the brief respite that followed, a secluded Sith Lord named Vitiate appeared and gathered the remaining eight thousand Sith Lords in preparation for a ritual of Sith magic that Vitiate claimed would bring about the destruction of the Republic.
Shar Dakhan demonstrated unwavering support for Naga Sadow, committing his entire fleet to Sadow's war efforts. Dakhan possessed a penchant for elaborate celebrations, as evidenced by the grand war rally he orchestrated on Ch'hodos. As a symbol of his authority, Dakhan donned a large gold-colored helmet adorned with horns.
The character of Shar Dakhan made his debut in Tales of the Jedi: The Fall of the Sith Empire, a story arc within the Tales of the Jedi comic book series, penned by Kevin J. Anderson. He made a brief appearance in a single panel of the arc's second issue, Forces in Collision. He later featured more prominently in the series' third issue, where he was given a more substantial role. In this appearance, Dakhan was illustrated by Dario Carrasco, Jr. In 2008, Dakhan was included in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. Dakhan is also referenced in Paul S. Kemp's novel Crosscurrent, where his last name is misspelled as "Dakhon," an error that also appears in 2012's The Essential Guide to Warfare.
