Sluis Van

Sluis Van, situated in square M-19 of the Standard Galactic Grid, was a celestial body located in the southern Outer Rim Territories and Western Reaches of the galaxy, specifically along the Rimma Trade Route. Before the time of the Clone Wars, it supplied ships to the Outland Regions Security Force of Seswenna.

History

Sluis Van was consumed by the expanding Stormwall in 229 BBY, resulting in a loss of communication with the Galactic Republic.

Subsequently, Count Dooku defected both Sluis Van and Yag'Dhul to the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Behind the scenes

The first canonically reference to Sluis Van was in James Luceno's 2014 novel, Tarkin. Within the Star Wars Legends continuity, the planet Sluis Van debuted in Timothy Zahn's 1991 novel Heir to the Empire, the initial installment of The Thrawn Trilogy. Zahn named it as a tribute to his acquaintance, Don Vandersluis.
