The Space Master medium transport represented a cargo vessel constructed by Kuat Drive Yards.
The designation "Space Master," given by its manufacturer Kuat Drive Yards, highlighted the spacecraft's considerable cargo-carrying ability and efficient use of internal volume. It served as KDY's equivalent to the Gallofree Yards GR-75 medium transport.
The Space Master, designed to maximize cargo storage in every available cubic meter, mirrored the design philosophy of the GR-75. It was built around a central support structure featuring numerous attachment points for interchangeable cargo modules. This resulted in a starship that, despite being somewhat smaller, slower, and less agile than the competing GR-75, could still transport an impressive nineteen thousand metric tons of cargo, matching its larger rival.
The Space Master offered some advantages over its competitor, despite a minor reduction in capabilities. These included more comfortable crew and passenger accommodations within the ship's saucer-shaped command section, as well as multiple standard weapon mounts for defensive laser cannons and extra hardpoints for further modifications.
These common and unassuming ships were used throughout the galaxy to transport goods between locations, and were favored by smugglers. Designers at CEC often joked that Space Master Captains typically operated at only half their maximum capacity because they hadn't discovered all the storage areas. While this was a slight exaggeration, many cargo holds were so difficult to access that they were frequently used for smuggling contraband, which contributed to its popularity with smugglers.
The Goshyn Queen, a Space Master-class vessel, functioned as the flagship of the smuggler Billey.
