Due to their small stature, a significant number of Ssori opted to utilize mechanical suits to make up for it, though some preferred to exist in their natural, "pure organic" state. This species possessed the capability of communicating in Galactic Basic Standard.
The common practice among Ssori involved the utilization of mechanical suits to counter their small size; however, individuals like Carklin Ryoon elected to remain "pure organic". Ryoon held the position of gunner on Liberty's Misrule, the previously known Super Star Destroyer Annihilator, under the command of Captain Eleodie Maracavanya. Ryoon alerted Maracavanya to the presence of three Imperial II-class Star Destroyers escaping the Battle of Jakku, and played a role in the destroying of the crippled warships.
Leland Chee indicated that the Ssori were originally conceived as the species of the bounty hunter Seripas from the The Clone Wars television show. Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition subsequently verified Seripas' identity as a Ssori.
