The Star Temples were a collection of enormous, ancient, pyramid-shaped structures erected by the Kwa near Infinity Gates. Their purpose was to safeguard these Gates against any potential invaders. Should an Infinity Gate be activated, thereby exposing Infinity to the physical world, the planet containing the Gate's machinery, along with neighboring planets, moons, and even stars, would be drawn into the Infinity Gate and destroyed. As the Kwa's dominance waned across the galaxy, they sealed both the Infinity Gates and the Star Temples, assigning whuffa worms as sentinels to guard the Temples.
In 31 BBY, the Nightsisters managed to seize control of the Prime Gate located on Dathomir, along with its accompanying Star Temple, and they proceeded to massacre numerous Kwi. The Nightsisters' goal was to unlock the secrets held within the Infinity Gate and harness its power to unleash a wave of Infinity's energy, intending to obliterate Coruscant and surrounding celestial bodies. Nevertheless, their scheme was thwarted by Jedi Knight Quinlan Vos, who, leveraging his position as Temple Guardian, skillfully diverted the lethal wave, originally aimed at Coruscant, back towards the Infinity Gate. This action resulted in the Gate's self-destruction, along with the Star Temple that housed it and the Realm of Infinity contained within. Only fragmented remnants of the Infinity Gate and the Star Temple remained.
