Star Wars (1998) 41

The Devaronian Version, Part 2 represents the forty-first installment within the Star Wars: Republic comic book series. Dark Horse Comics released it to the public on May 8, 2002.

Summary from the Publisher

Finally—the real story of how Villie ended up on the prison world of Kiffex, the real story of how he conquered a Dark Jedi and hoodwinked the Jedi to gain his freedom, and the real story of why he chose Quinlan Vos to be his apprentice. Or, at least, a version of the truth. Or, to be honest, perhaps not the truth at all. It's the second part of THE DEVARONIAN VERSION, the story as told by our rogue Vilmarh Grahrk up to this point. A great entry point for those new to the series and a delightful revisit for longtime fans. And if you actually believe any of this, Villie has a lovely moon called Nar Shaddaa he'd be happy to sell to you!

Plot Synopsis

Vilmarh Grahrk proceeds with the narration of his involvement with "Bobo." While the Yinchorri launch an assault on the Jedi Temple, Bobo secretly enters the Temple's innermost chamber. Concurrently, at the Yinchorri's base of operations, the Jedi strike force manages to subdue their adversaries, but simultaneously, Villie claims that internal conflicts erupt among the Jedi. Shortly thereafter, Villie supposedly locates the Jedi and proposes to assist them in recovering their stolen treasure, in exchange for compensation. Subsequently, Villie recounts how he located Bobo and extracted the Jedi treasure from him through extortion, after which he allowed his stalking onsonker to devour Bobo. He then restores the treasure to the appreciative Jedi. Villie then elaborates on his connection with Quinlan Vos. He recounts how Vos was formerly a Guardian, dismissed from his position due to his issues with alcohol, and how the pair orchestrated a scheme wherein Vos impersonated a Jedi, until Vos became excessively arrogant. Villie asserted that in an effort to demonstrate his genuine Jedi abilities, Vos insisted that Grahrk shoot him, so he could deflect the energy blast. However, according to the Devaronian's account, Vos was unsuccessful and perished in the attempt.
