Star Wars #28 represents the twenty-eighth installment of the canon comic book series titled Star Wars, which began in 2020. Marvel Comics released this issue on October 12, 2022. The writing was done by Charles Soule, while the artwork was created by Andrés Genolet and Rachelle Rosenberg.
A deep dive into what freedom truly costs! The Rebel Alliance gains a new understanding of the magnitude of the threat they face. C-3PO engages in some very intense negotiations, and Luke Skywalker embarks on a perilous quest that will push his developing Jedi abilities to their absolute limits.
Charles Soule was inspired to write the scene where Luke Skywalker is introduced to Melton's family by his experience meeting Mark Hamill at New York Comic Con. Soule was with friends and their children, and he noted that Hamill, the actor who portrays Skywalker, immediately knelt down to greet the children. Soule remarked that their expressions reminded him of Reen and Zelly's](/article/zelly) faces in the issue.
This issue showcases Luke Skywalker informing rebel leaders such as Mon Mothma, Gial Ackbar, and Hera Syndulla about the Galactic Empire's construction of another Death Star. This contradicts the opening crawl of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, which states that Skywalker was unaware of the construction.
