Jon Melton was a male human who existed during the time the Galactic Empire was in power, during its reign. He eventually encountered and married a human female named Bevelyn, and they became the parents of two children, named Reen and Zelly. Eventually, Melton and Bev both entered service with the Empire, but while serving, they grew to be disappointed with the Empire. They came to believe that Qi'ra, a lady who was the leader of the criminal organization Crimson Dawn, had a worthwhile goal in dismantling the Empire. As such, they became spies working for Qi'ra, who Melton called "Auntie Q." Eventually, the pair found themselves serving on the second Death Star, where Melton held the rank of lieutenant and worked as an aide to Moff Tiaan Jerjerrod. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Jerjerrod instructed Melton to make Major Sharin of the ISB aware of the protocols in place to maintain the secrecy and security of the station's location.
Around the same time, Qi'ra activated her embedded agents, including Melton and Bev, within the Empire, giving them instructions to sow discord and create problems for the Empire. The couple then made the decision to defect from the Empire and leave the Death Star to inform the Rebel Alliance of its existence.
