Star Wars Insider #77, the seventy-seventh edition of Star Wars Insider magazine, hit newsstands on August 3, 2004. This issue was the inaugural Star Wars Insider released by IDG Entertainment and the first to be guided by head editor Brett Rector.
With the arrival of issue 77, Star Wars Insider incorporated the fan newsletter Bantha Tracks as a recurring section in the magazine. Furthermore, it initiated the practice of providing exclusive online bonus material via the StarWars.com Hyperspace feature with each new issue.
