Stavan served as a commander in the Empire Reborn, a splinter group of the Imperial Remnant, reporting to Admiral Galak Fyyar. This officer was stationed at a military outpost on the planet Kejim circa 12 ABY. It was during this year, around the time that New Republic agent Kyle Katarn was investigating the base, that Fyyar sent a message to the outpost expressing his dissatisfaction with Stavan's leadership, ordering his dismissal and reassignment.
Katarn discovered the transmission concerning Stavan, along with other messages, by accessing a communications console during his probe of the Kejim installation.
The video game Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, released in 2002, referenced Stavan via a transmission, despite his physical absence in the game. Although Kyle Katarn, controlled by the player, could access the communications console containing this message, doing so was not mandatory and had no bearing on the game's narrative conclusion. This article, however, is predicated on the assumption of complete game exploration.
