Stinger (creature)
Stingers were nest-dwelling organisms. During a skirmish within the Unknown Regions Kinoss system, some years prior to 19 BBY, Qilori, a navigator from Uandualon, informed Mitth'raw'nuruodo, a Chiss Senior Captain (whose core name was "Thrawn"), that his efforts to determine if the Lioaoin Regime was supporting pirates against the Chiss Ascendancy were in danger of "stirring up a massive stinger nest."
Behind the scenes
The novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, released in 2020 and the first book in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy, featured stingers. Within Star Wars Legends, a reference to stingers appeared in the 1981 Star Wars radio drama episode "Black Knight, White Princess, and Pawns," where "a stingers' nest" carried the same figurative connotation as it did in the more recent novel.
