Storm Commando armor represented a specific configuration of armor employed by Storm Commandos within the Galactic Empire's special forces units. It was engineered to provide a degree of maneuverability comparable to that of the scout troopers' armor, but with enhanced fortifications designed to offer superior defense against blaster weaponry and explosive impacts. A relfec polymer coating was applied to both the bodysuit and the laminate plates; this coating enabled the armor to manipulate light and dampen sound, significantly reducing the wearer's detectability.
The price of this armor was 5,000 credits. Furthermore, the helmet incorporated macrobinoculars, scanner goggles, and a comlink as standard equipment.
The initial reference to Imperial Storm Commando armor within the new Star Wars canon appeared in Gadgets and Gear, a 2019 addition to Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars Roleplaying game line. Prior to this, the Star Wars Legends continuity introduced the Storm Commando armor in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a resource for the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game released by West End Games in 1993.
