Sumdin


Sumdin was a female Gossam individual who served as a Separatist spy during the time of the Clone Wars. She passed along confidential details regarding Count Dooku's planned visit to Raxus Secundus to the Nightsister, Asajj Ventress. After she was no longer needed, Ventress eliminated her.

Biography

During the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars], Sumdin, a Gossam female, functioned as an informant. She was acquainted with Asajj Ventress, a Nightsister who had previously been a Sith apprentice under Count Dooku. Leveraging her position within the Separatist structure, she secretly shared information about Count Dooku's attendance at the Raxian Humanitarian Award event with Ventress and her ally, the undercover Jedi named Quinlan Vos. Armed with this intelligence, Ventress and Vos journeyed to Raxus Secundus to meet Sumdin in Raxulon, the capital city.

Sumdin encountered the pair at Raxulon's spaceport, providing them with the necessary credentials to infiltrate the ceremony. To safeguard the secrecy of their operation, Ventress then killed Sumdin by inflicting a fatal slash across her torso using her [lightsaber](/article/lightsaber]. Vos, however, felt uneasy about the murder of Sumdin, whom he viewed as a sentient being. He carried her deceased body and concealed it before proceeding with Ventress on their mission to assassinate Dooku. Viewing her death as gratuitous, Vos channeled the anger arising from her demise to amplify his resolve to confront Dooku.

Personality

Being a Gossam, Sumdin was similar in size to a human child and communicated in Gossam. Because Sumdin owed Asajj Ventress a favor, Ventress used blackmail to coerce Sumdin into revealing Dooku's location. Sumdin gave in to Ventress's demands and furnished her and Quinlan Vos with passes that enabled them to get into a Separatist ceremony on Raxus. Because Ventress did not trust her to keep a secret, she murdered the Gossam.

Behind the scenes

Sumdin was initially introduced as a secondary character in Christie Golden's 2015 book Dark Disciple. This novel was based on eight scripts that were never produced for the canceled Cartoon Network show Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Dark Disciple is a component of the Canon The Clone Wars Legacy, a continuous multimedia project utilizing content from the canceled television program.
