Following the Battle of Yavin, Syayna held the title of Princess within the Jazbinan people, specifically of Jazbina.

Lord Prepredenko, Syayna's father, requested assistance from Luke Skywalker to save her from individuals he described as "bandits." These "bandits" were, in actuality, Rebel soldiers from the local area, and Syayna desired to join them, including a man named Raol. Skywalker inadvertently guided Prepredenko's troops directly to her location, resulting in her confinement under house arrest. However, her imprisonment was short-lived, as Darth Vader's arrival led to Prepredenko's imprisonment for allegedly executing Skywalker. Aided by Skywalker and Jal Te Gniev, Syayna achieved victory over the Imperial troops, minimizing casualties, and forced Vader to retreat.
The name Syayna bears resemblance to the Slavic term sjajna (сияйна) [sijajna]. This term is used in languages like Bulgarian, Croatian, and Serbian to convey meanings such as radiant, effulgent, lustrous, or brilliant, specifically in the feminine form.
It's noteworthy that a significant number of names featured in Vader's Quest (which marks her sole appearance) are derived from the Croatian language. These names often carry identical or closely related meanings within the broader context of South Slavic languages.
