Syub Snunb was a military officer from Sullust who served in both the Rebel Alliance and the New Republic.
Snunb's military service began as a security head for several cargo ships in the SoroSuub Corporation's merchant fleet. Later, he transferred to the Sullustan Home Guard. His effectiveness within the Home Guard was notable, becoming second-in-command to the Home Guard Commodore. He primarily remained neutral in politics, adhering to the directives issued by SoroSuub.
After the successful toppling of the pro-Imperial junta on Sullust and Sullust's subsequent alignment with the Rebel Alliance, Snunb was chosen to meet the Rebel Command Fleet at Obica. He then guided the fleet to Sullust, which served as the staging area prior to the Battle of Endor. As a gesture of trust, he was given command of the Antares Six.
He continued his service in the New Republic Defense Force, building a reputation for running a highly efficient vessel. In 10 ABY, he commanded the Antares Six during the Second Battle of Coruscant to perform a rescue of the stranded crew of the Liberator. He was the first individual to detect the Force storm which disrupted the battle and transported Luke Skywalker to Byss.
As a Commander, he was selected as one of the original officers of the New Republic Fifth Battle Group, where he served as the commanding officer of the modified Nebula-class Star Destroyer named Resolve.
Within Snunb's Sullustese dialogue in Star Wars: Dark Empire are the words "Eihcra Niwdoog." This is actually the name of Archie Goodwin, a famous author of Star Wars comic strip and Marvel Comics, spelled in reverse.
The name "Syub" is a Sullustan male name that means "industrious," while "Snunb" is a Sullustan female name that means "popular."
