During the twilight of the Galactic Republic, Tantron Dow was a Jedi Master of the Duros species and male gender, serving the Jedi Order.
Tantron Dow, a male Duros who exhibited sensitivity to the Force, received instruction from the Jedi Order in utilizing the Force, eventually achieving the esteemed rank of Jedi Master through educated. Stationed on Almas, which is found within the Cularin system, Master Dow's duties were based out of the experimental academy that was situated in the city of Forard. He took on a Human named Alkin Saad as his Padawan and imparted all his knowledge of the Force to him during their period together. When Kirlocca, the Academy's battlemaster, and a number of her students went missing in the Almas Wasteland, the Master and his Padawan were at the Academy.
Lanius Qel-Bertuk, the Headmaster of the Academy, approached Master Dow and his Padawan Saad and requested that they carry out an investigation into the disappearances. As they sped across the desolate landscape in a speeder, a laser cannon fired upon them, operated by members of the Believers cult, causing them to crash. Dow emerged from the wreckage to discover that his Padawan had perished, and he was so overcome with sorrow that he yielded to the dark side of the Force. Dow, fueled by the potent dark side energies present in the wasteland, remained at the crash site until the Heroes of Cularin found him. Believing that the Heroes were responsible for Saad's death, Dow flew into a rage and attacked them. The Heroes managed to calm Master Dow without causing him any harm, and the Master released his anger, repenting his dalliance with the dark side. Master Dow then directed the Heroes to Master Kirlocca's campsite and arranged for Squeerie, a Squib, to transport him to Forard so that he could seek treatment and receive guidance at the academy.
