In the year 3639 BBY, Tarkom, together with Addy Ingrol, Asirr, and Evad, aided Doctor Sannus Lorrick in his experiments with the rakghoul virus within his laboratory located on Ord Mantell. Tarkom, along with the other scientists, was under the impression that Lorrick was seeking a cure for the virus. As the rakghoul virus fell upon four Tionese planets, Tarkom and his fellow assistants uncovered Lorrick's actual intentions and tried to thwart him; however, they were infected with the virus and subsequently controlled by him. A strike team that came to prevent Lorrick from infecting himself with the virus ultimately killed him.
