Commander Tarkus, a male Human, served the reconstituted Sith Empire as a military officer during the Galactic War. In the year 3642 BBY, he found himself on the icy planet of Hoth, where he negotiated with Kandhar, a pirate leader from the White Maw gang. Tarkus intended to acquire a cloaking device that Kandhar allegedly owned. However, their agreement was disrupted by a smuggler captain whose objective was to assassinate Kandhar and earn the confidence of Shai Tenna. The smuggler instead revealed Kandhar's connections to the Sith Empire to his men, resulting in Tarkus being killed by the enraged pirates who felt they had been double-crossed.
