Tayala Akuna was a human female who entered into marriage with the former Jedi Knight, Bode Akuna, and was the mother to Kata Akuna.
Tayala became the spouse of the former Jedi Knight Bode Akuna and bore him a child, Kata Akuna. Later, Tayala met her demise at the hands of the Inquisitors because these Inquisitorius members failed to extract the whereabouts of her husband, a Jedi who had survived Order 66, from her at their family residence in Birren. As soon as they arrived, Tayala urgently dispatched a communication to Bode, cautioning him and their daughter against returning home. After the Galactic Empire learned of his absence, they took out their anger on her, leading to her passing.

Following her demise, her husband commenced employment with the ISB, partly because Bode desired to identify the Inquisitor responsible for his wife's death and because the ISB provided protection for Kata. Kata discerned a transformation in her father stemming from her mother's death, and perhaps in herself as well. After her father's passing, Kata committed her doll, Mookie, a gift from her mother, to the flames alongside her father's remains on a funeral pyre.
