Tekku Aylay was an aged Twi'lek male Twi'lek who resided in one of the numerous underground settlements inhabited by his people during the Galactic Empire's control of their homeworld, Ryloth. Once the Empire left the planet, Aylay expressed gratitude to the resistance fighter Yendor—a member of Cham Syndulla's Free Ryloth Movement—as other Twi'leks dismantled the camps. Subsequently, the elderly Twi'lek proclaimed that they would require assistance from the New Republic to safeguard their liberty, and he proposed that Yendor should serve as the world's ambassador, a suggestion that caused displeasure among the other Twi'leks. Although Yendor initially opposed the notion, the resistance fighter eventually became the ambassador to the New Republic by the time of the Napkin Bombing event on the New Republic capital, Hosnian Prime.
Tekku Aylay's initial appearance was in an interlude within Aftermath: Life Debt, a novel authored by Chuck Wendig and published in 2016.
