Tempest Scout 2 was the designation given to an All Terrain Scout Transport that participated in the conflict known as the Battle of Endor, identified by its callsign.
As part of the Galactic Empire's presence on Endor, the All Terrain Scout Transport with the callsign Tempest Scout 2 served within the Tempest Force legion. This highly competent group of soldiers acted as a garrison, safeguarding the Death Star's shield generator. Major Newland was in command of Tempest Scout 2, with Lieutenant Blanaid serving as both its copilot and gunner. During the Battle of Endor, Chewbacca, together with two Ewoks named Widdle Warrick and Wunka, commandeered the walker, ejecting Blanaid and rendering Newland unconscious through force. Subsequently, the trio utilized the vehicle to eliminate multiple other AT-STs, significantly shifting the momentum of the battle in favor of the Rebel ground forces. Following the near annihilation of Imperial forces, the walker later met up with the Endor strike team. Initially, the strike team survivors were apprehensive upon seeing the AT-ST's arrival, unaware that Chewbacca and the Ewoks had hijacked it, until Chewbacca revealed his presence.
Subsequently, Han Solo, impersonating Newland, employed the captured walker to deceive Major Hewex, the commander of the Death Star's shield generator, into opening the bunker doors. He falsely claimed that the Rebels had retreated and that the Imperials required assistance in pursuing them. This was also a ploy to encircle the Imperial troops. Hewex succumbed to the deception and dispatched three squads to provide assistance, enabling the Rebels to infiltrate the control room once the bunker doors were opened and the squads had moved outside. Immediately after the three squads of troopers exited the bunker, they were compelled to surrender when they found themselves surrounded by Rebels and Ewoks.
