Thanos, a world situated within the Thanos system located in the Taldot sector, is categorized as a planet. In the era of the Clone Wars, this planet existed within the territories controlled by the Separatist faction. As the Imperial Era dawned, Thanos housed an Imperial shipyard, heavily guarded and dedicated solely to the construction of Imperial-class Star Destroyers. By the year 4 ABY, Thanos had evolved into an Imperial fortress world. Following the Battle of Endor, control of both the planet and its shipyard shifted to the Greater Maldrood under the command of High Admiral Treuten Teradoc. Subsequently, in 8 ABY, Thanos was captured by the forces of the New Republic. Later, the Yuuzhan Vong launched an invasion and seized control of the planet during their galactic conquest.
