Plot summary

Set around the time of 0 BBY, the narrative follows the story of Han Solo and Chewbacca, a pair of smugglers experiencing a period of misfortune, as they undertake assignments for Jabba the Hutt. Their starship, the Millennium Falcon, becomes the target of an attack. While attempting a jump to lightspeed, a critical component, the hyperdrive regulator, sustains damage, causing an abrupt return to normal space.

The consequence of this malfunction is a crash landing on a planet. Upon exiting the vessel, Solo proudly declares a successful, intact landing.

However, his attempt to impress the local inhabitants, including Jenna, is cut short by a sudden collapse, leading to his medical care by a 2-1B surgical droid. Awakening with a minor concussion, he finds himself confined within the town's jail, which also serves as its medical facility, due to the absence of a sheriff. After expressing his gratitude to Jenna, Solo begins his return to the Falcon. Jenna informs him that repairs are underway, but their completion hinges on Solo's reciprocal assistance.

Jenna proceeds to describe their predicament, involving a Hutt-related issue with Bo-Dum and Rarsk. Concurrently, the Hutt duo is actively tracking the wreckage resulting from the Falcon's crash.

The following day witnesses their departure from their fortress and arrival in the town. They are confronted by Jenna, who accuses them of murdering her father, the town's sheriff. Subsequently, Jenna introduces them to Chewbacca, cleverly disguised as the new Wookiee sheriff.

The Hutts, in response, withdraw to the local cantina to strategize. There, they are approached by a masked figure who claims knowledge of a substantial sum of money. Despite their initial rejection, the figure reveals his awareness of Han Solo's presence and the considerable bounty on his head. Identifying himself as the "Corellian Kid," renowned as the galaxy's best tracker, he strikes a deal with the Hutts, agreeing to a 60/40 split of the bounty, while secretly planning their betrayal.

As dawn breaks, they find themselves in the red dunes, only to discover that the Wookiee sheriff has arrived before them. The Corellian Kid then reveals his true intentions, leading the Hutts to realize they have fallen into a trap orchestrated by the townspeople.

Emerging from their damaged speeders, they witness the Falcon soaring overhead. Solo reveals himself as the "Corellian Kid." The Hutts attempt to intimidate him with the bounty, but Solo points out their lack of leverage, leaving them stranded in the desert.
