A Tale of Escape is a brief comic narrative featured within Star Wars Tales 8. Andi Watson both penned and illustrated this story. Its setting is approximately 4 ABY.
A young Twi'lek female named Nima'tar, also called Mina, recounts the events of the story in hindsight. Mina, a university student, became the frontwoman of a traveling musical group with the intention of raising funds for her education. Everything proceeded smoothly until the band played a performance one night for Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Jabba declined to compensate them, leading the other band members to sell Mina to Jabba to secure transport off the planet. As Jabba's enslaved dancer, Mina was compelled to dance, groom him, and perform other humiliating tasks to avoid being fed to the rancor. Mina's thesis, which she continued to write during her imprisonment, was the only thing that sustained her.
After being superseded by a new dancer one evening, Mina succeeded in fleeing, only to come across one of Jabba's guards. To her astonishment and appreciation, the guard aided in her getaway. It is thought that the guard was Lando Calrissian in disguise. The story concludes at a later point, with Mina back at the university presenting her thesis, entitled: "Hygiene & Power: A Xenopological Study of a Hutt."
