The Ranch

During the era of the Galactic Civil War, The Ranch existed as a farm. It was situated on the world of Tatooine, specifically upon the Mesric Plateau within its desert region.

Description

This ranch was positioned in close proximity to the settlement of Mos Eisley. Despite the limited plains and sparse vegetation on Tatooine, the establishment functioned as a ranch, raising various animal species, notably banthas and eopies. Being located on the edge of a Mesric Plateau cliff, the ranch offered a striking view of the valley sprawled below.

History

By the time the Battle of Yavin took place, Roric and Helen Goldenfield were residing at the ranch. In the year 1 ABY, a band of local pirates began to antagonize the ranchers. On one occasion, Roric Goldenfield successfully apprehended some of these pirates while they were in the process of looting the ranch, holding them as prisoners within the house. Later, a spacer encountered the pirate leader, who tasked the adventurer with securing the pirates' release. However, the spacer chose to helped Helen Goldenfield in preventing the pirates' escape, while her husband was in the process of contacting Imperial authorities.

Behind the scenes

The Ranch was a location featured in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its shutdown on December 15, 2011. The Ranch was introduced into the game as a component of the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, which was launched with "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. The "Hero of Tatooine" questline underwent extensive revisions following the introduction of "Publish 25", also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005; however, the "Honor" section, which involved the ranch and the Goldenfield family, remained unchanged.

An unknown dish located in the main house

The main house on the ranch could be seen as a showcase for crafting professions. At the time of the game's launch, it contained numerous examples of craftable items or reward items, as well as craftable items (or loot drops) that would be introduced later. The original appearances (which were subsequently altered) of items like Deuterium-pyro, Durindfire and Bivoli Tempari can be found here. Also present are the appearances of items that are no longer craftable, such as Aludium pu-36, Corellian Fried Ice Cream (the original chef-crafted version), and Tranna nougat cream. Several house items, including a green carpet, a red carpet, and an unidentified food item, were never made available to players.

Within the game, players also had the opportunity to complete a collection called "Panoramic Vistas" by making a visit to the ranch.
