"The Shanty of Cart and Cobble" originated as a traditional song sung by miners' hailing from the planet of Akiva. Temmin Wexley, a human child, would perform this shanty on the valachord owned by his family, accompanied by his father, Brentin Lore Wexley. Following the capture of his father by the Galactic Empire, and the departure of his mother, Norra Wexley, to join the Alliance to Restore the Republic, Temmin repurposed the valachord. He integrated it into the activation sequence for a concealed entrance, which led to a network of tunnels beneath his residence, situated in the city of Myrra. The door's unlocking mechanism required the precise playing of the initial five notes from "The Shanty of Cart and Cobble" on the valachord.
