Plot summary

Three against the galaxy.

Since the demise of Jabba the Hutt, Grissom, a Gamorrean who was once a member of Jabba's elite guard, has been moving from one planet to another, taking on various jobs, and is now working as a pitfighter on the planet Otunia. While he is in the cantina of Otunia, Arista walks in and becomes involved in a confrontation with a lecherous Gran. She accidentally bumps into Grissom, and the Gran orders Grissom to buy him a drink. The Gamorrean responds by punching the Gran, knocking him to the ground, just as Lorn Kabul's police force arrives and arrests him.

A week later, Lorn Kabul is in conversation with his daughter, Arista, who is complaining about the tracking device that he has attached to her ankle for protection. Suddenly, Lorn's brother, Seth, interrupts them to inform Lorn that the Cerilian Trade Agreement requires his immediate attention. Later on, Seth is in communication with Imperial Moff Harsh, promising to assassinate Arista and Lorn by rigging the mines with explosives during their visit the following day. This will allow him to seize control of Kabul Industries for himself, and he assures the Moff that he will be much more cooperative with the Empire than Lorn has been.

The following day, Lorn and his daughter Arista are supervising the mining operations on Otunia, where Grissom is employed. Grissom notices the explosive charge planted by Seth Kabul and throws it down a service ladder, but this action proves to be ineffective, as the cave collapses on everyone present. Grissom emerges from beneath a mine cart and rescues an unconscious Arista before discovering a critically injured Lorn Kabul. Lorn pleads with Grissom to take Arista away from Otunia and gives him a ring, then succumbs to his injuries. Grissom manages to escape from the mines and into the harsh desert environment of Otunia.

Two days later, Seth Kabul instructs one of his Weequay subordinates to locate Arista using a tracking device designed to detect her ankle bracelet. They locate her later that night, alone, in a small rocky area. As they approach her, Grissom, positioned above them, throws large rocks down onto Seth's men. Grissom is pursued by a Weequay on a skiff, but the skiff is destroyed by a Jawa who is armed with a rocket launcher. The Jawa introduces himself as Tek, and brings Arista and Grissom back to his cave in order to remove her tracking device.

While they are doing this, Tek reveals that there is a bounty of 12,000 credits on his head because a farmer was killed when his sand blaster exploded after he used it on rocks, leading the farmer's family to put a bounty on him. Grissom realizes that 12,000 credits would be sufficient to get them off Otunia, so he captures Tek in order to claim the bounty. However, Grissom and Arista later rescue Tek from the detention center that night and make their way to the Kabul Estate, which is now under the control of Seth Kabul, where a Lambda-class shuttle and several stormtroopers are stationed.

As Seth is concluding a meeting with Moff Harsh, Arista enters the room carrying a blaster, and Seth pretends to be pleasantly surprised to see her. Grissom then appears from behind him, startling him, as Arista directs his attention to the mines through the window, which suddenly explode due to the charges that Tek had previously planted throughout them. As Seth turns around to declare that she will never escape, he realizes that she has already escaped. Arista, Grissom, and Tek use their 12,000 credits to bribe a space freighter pilot, securing passage off Otunia.
