Publisher's summary

The period of several centuries directly before the Great War was widely considered to be among the most tranquil periods in the Republic's history. However, as Master Gnost-Dural delves further into the history of the galaxy, he uncovers fresh evidence indicating that the Sith Empire's sinister influence was already permeating the Republic during that time. Gnost-Dural's most recent report focuses on a specific historical occurrence that implies a Sith Lord was manipulating events within the Jedi Order itself, even decades prior to the war's commencement.

BTC 103 – Over a century before the Sacking of Coruscant, two Jedi scholars embarked upon an expedition that subsequently became one of the most perplexing enigmas of its era. The young Jedi Knight, Eison Gynt, accompanied his Master on a mission to probe the Ancient Sith Temple situated on Yavin 4. Upon Yavin, they were assaulted by the indigenous Massassi and forced to retreat into the Tomb of Naga Sadow, from which a potent force of darkness materialized. Gynt's Master made his way back to Coruscant, injured and teetering on the brink of insanity, consumed by regret over the supposed death of young Eison Gynt amidst the turmoil. However, years later, Gynt reappeared from Yavin alone and launched an attack on his former Master. Gynt was slain, leading to the widespread assumption that he had been corrupted by the darkness present on Yavin 4 and returned to Coruscant seeking retribution. Nevertheless, the reality, as Master Gnost-Dural has ascertained, may have been considerably more malevolent.
