Tom Hoeler

Tom Hoeler is currently the Editorial Director at Random House Worlds. Before this role, he was a Senior Editor at Random House, after initially joining the team at Del Rey.

Biography

Tom Hoeler's journey with Del Rey began as a summer intern while he was a graduate student. During his internship, he contributed to The Essential Reader's Companion by developing reference materials for artists who needed to visualize previously unseen characters. He also assisted in the creation of a poster for Celebration VI, showcasing numerous Star Wars novels. Hoeler was offered and accepted a full-time position at Del Rey starting on September 2 of 2014. Since then, he has been involved in the development of the majority of novels published by that imprint, and later Random House Worlds, working alongside the same team of people.

Hoeler contributed to Chuck Wendig's 2017 novel Aftermath: Empire's End by crafting several phrases in both Huttese and proto-Huttese. The first Star Wars novel that he ever read was I, Jedi.
