Tosharan

The inhabitants of the Outer Rim Territories moon known as Toshara were called Tosharans. The initial population consisted primarily of human refugees who lived in seclusion until a Galactic Republic officer, Sefin Garoby, experienced a crash landing there during the Clone Wars. At that time, the Tosharans communicated in Toshari, a language that had evolved during their isolated existence, rather than Basic, and it was still in use on the moon during 3 ABY. While he was present on Toshara, Garoby's protocol droid managed to converse with the Tosharans by utilizing an ancient tongue that bore resemblance to Toshari. After the Tosharans aided in the repair of their vessel, Garoby eventually departed from the moon. Given the Tosharans' expressed desire for interaction with the broader galaxy, Garoby chose to leave their protocol droid behind to instruct the Tosharans in Basic and get them ready for galactic society.
