A male journalist of the Human species, known as Trace Lyson, made his home on Tatooine during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Following the pivotal Battle of Yavin, Lyson took up residence in the city of Mos Espa. It was during this period that the Tusken Raiders inhabiting the vicinity of Mos Eisley exhibited heightened aggression, posing a direct threat to Mos Espa. In the year 1 ABY, an associate of Trace Lyson, Trehla Keelo by name, came across intelligence concerning the recent actions of the Tusken Raiders near Mos Eisley. Following a clash with the Tuskens in Junktown, she dispatched a spacer to journey from Mos Eisley to Mos Espa, with the purpose of relaying this critical information to Trace Lyson.

Within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and brought to the public by LucasArts, Trace Lyson existed as a non-player character until the game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011.
Lyson's character was integrated into the game through the "Publish 17" update, which went live on May 26, 2005. He was involved in an initial questline designed for new players who started their journey on Tatooine after finishing the "New Player Tutorial". The quest involving Trace Lyson was subsequently removed from the game with the implementation of "Publish 25," also recognized as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
