Trade Federation droid bomber

The Trade Federation droid bomber, alternatively known as the advanced droid bomber, functioned as a droid starfighter. It saw service within the ranks of the Trade Federation and subsequently with the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Key Attributes

This sophisticated droid bomber possessed a quartet of laser cannons coupled with a sizable internal bay for ordnance. Despite its considerable armor and deflector shields, its speed was limited, and it exhibited poor agility. Typically, these bombers were deployed in formations consisting of squadrons of five craft.

In contrast to the Vulture-class droid starfighters, which were known for their agility and velocity, these bombers were vulnerable targets because their flight patterns were predictable. Similar to the Vulture and other Federation starfighters, these bombers were typically controlled via droid control program connected to a central control computer, often located on a Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ship.

The design of this craft originated from Xi Char.

Operational History

This bomber type was deployed in combat against the pirate Nym on the planet Lok. During the Invasion of Naboo in 32 BBY, the Trade Federation utilized these droid bombers to attack the resistance forces of that planet and to dominate the civilian population.

These bombers also saw action in other areas where the Trade Federation was active, such as the Karthakk system. They were also stationed aboard C-9979 carriers that guarded Nod Kartha. Later, during the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems employed them, notably at the Battle of Viidaav.

Behind the Curtains

The initial appearance of these bombers occurred in the 2000 video game titled Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo.
