Transel, a relatively unknown and isolated terrestrial planet, existed within the Transel system. This system was situated in the Southern Core region of the Colonies. Its location was along the hyperlane called the Shipwrights' Trace, providing connections to the Bassadro, Fondor, and Surric systems.
Transel was home to a small starship engineering company. At a single manufacturing plant, this company, once a subsidiary of the larger Core Galaxy Systems organization, was responsible for the years-long production of the Dynamic-class freighter, a design originating around 4000 BBY. By 3956 BBY, Transel had become a member world of the Galactic Republic.
The starship registry for the Ebon Hawk, a Dynamic-class freighter in the possession of Davik Kang, an Exchange crime lord, was originally from Transel. In 3956 BBY, when Revan, a Jedi Padawan and the ship's subsequent owner, visited Ahto City on Manaan, a neutral Inner Rim planet, Shelkar, a judge of the Ahto City Civil Authority, informed him of this fact, deducing from it that Revan was a citizen of the Republic.
Transel first appeared in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, a video game released in 2003 by BioWare. Within the game, the planet is referenced in an optional dialogue between the player character, Revan, and the character Shelkar. This article is written under the assumption of complete game playthrough and the occurrence of the described conversation. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, located the Transel system, and consequently the planet, within grid square L-13.
