The Ewoks of Bright Tree Village encounter the group known as the Travelling Jindas.
The Travelling Jindas were a group of Jindas who made their home on Endor's forest moon. Back in 130 BBY, hundreds of them boarded the Free Enterprise, a colony ship, with the intention of settling Kuna's Eye. However, the ship suffered a crash on Endor, leading the Jindas to establish a prosperous tribe there. Their wandering way of life gave rise to the term "Jinda" being adopted by the Ewoks, which they used as an insult for nomadic members of their own kind.
Originally, the Jinda tribe earned their living as peaceful farmers in the service of the Rock Wizard. They were later accused by their lord of attempting to poison him, causing him significant pain. As a result, they were banished from his lands, forcing them to become wandering entertainers. To prevent them from settling permanently, the Rock Wizard placed a curse on the Jindas, causing any large rock in the vicinity to float and drive the tribe away whenever they remained in one place for too long.
The displaced tribe roamed the Forest Moon of Endor. They dressed in vibrantly colored attire and played a variety of musical instruments. The Jindas sustained themselves as traders, moving from one settlement to another. Their tendency to get lost was often intentional. Their animal trainer was named Chituhr, and Bondo served as their leader.
After spending several years as nomads, the Jindas paid a visit to the Ewoks residing in Bright Tree Village and put on a performance for them. Latara, an Ewok who was impressed by their profession, secretly joined their company. However, when a group of her friends followed her to persuade her to return, the tribe accommodated them and assisted in convincing her to go back home. Later, the Jindas rescued a group of young Ewoks who had been captured by Skandits. Regrettably, when they returned the Ewoks to Bright Tree Village, the curse was triggered, and the villagers found themselves obligated to provide shelter for the Jindas.
Upon hearing the Jindas' story, Logray and Teebo made an attempt to lift the Rock Wizard's curse and set the wanderers free. The Rock Wizard, infuriated by this interference, arrived to confront the Ewoks. However, he had a change of heart when he realized that, by an incredible coincidence, Princess Kneesaa a Jari Kintaka was wearing his missing tooth as a pendant. When he asked for it back, he put it back in his mouth and understood that his pain was caused by loss, and that the Jindas were not guilty.
Consequently, the wizard lifted the curse and extended an invitation to the Jindas to return to his lands.
A Guide to the Star Wars Universe suggests that the Jindas are an Ewok tribe, but Castaways of Endor established that they are a distinct species. Furthermore, the article clarified why nomadic Ewoks in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided are referred to as "Jindas."
