Tsuusha
A male Selkath, named Tsuusha, held the position of lead researcher for the Rift Alliance at Attis Station. This station was located on the planet Quesh. During the Cold War period, which saw conflict between the Galactic Republic and the re-emerging Sith Empire, the Empire launched an assault on the station. Tsuusha's life was spared only due to the intervention of the Barsen'thor from the Jedi Order.
Biography
During the Cold War, the Rift Alliance, a secessionist group within the Republic, established a clandestine research center known as Attis Station on Quesh. As Manaan was part of the alliance, multiple Selkath scientists journeyed to Quesh to lend their expertise, with Tsuusha being the most prominent. He oversaw several projects involving Venenit queshaaga, including a top-secret weapons program and a medical research initiative. Sith warriors from the Sith Empire discovered and attacked Attis Station, severing communications with the Rift Alliance. The Rift Alliance then dispatched the Barsen'thor, the Republic's Jedi ambassador, to look into the situation.
The Jedi was successful in breaching the locked-down station, quickly dispatching the Sith forces attempting to eliminate the remaining scientists. Eventually, the Barsen'thor reached the sealed room, and upon entering, a Holocomm transmission came through. A Sith Lord named Kyrus attempted to sway the Jedi to his side, but his efforts were unsuccessful, and he ended the transmission.
The Selkath Researcher had not realized that the person was a Jedi, so he pleaded for his life when the person approached him and his colleagues. The Barsen'thor corrected him, to which the Researcher exclaimed relief. The Selkath voiced his displeasure at the unprovoked attack by the Sith, and expressed his gratitude to the Jedi for their rescue. As the Jedi prepared to depart, the researcher stopped him and offered their assistance, offering the Jedi their most recent discovery from any research field. Despite the destruction of much of their equipment, they had the capacity to continue one of their major projects; either the classified weapons program or the breakthrough in medical technology. The Barsen'thor was given the choice, though Tsuusha personally believed that the medical research held greater value, as it had the potential to save numerous lives, including the Barsen'thor's. One of the Jedi's companions then contacted the Jedi and informed them that the station was free from the Sith now. The Selkath researcher then bid the Jedi farewell and said that they will be in touch. He first had to tend to his colleagues, but they would soon be back to work.
Following the Barsen'thor's departure from Attis Station, Tsuusha contacted Senator Tobas Grell to report the events that transpired, including Kyrus's inexplicable attempt to contact the Jedi.
At a later date, Tsuusha sent a message to the Jedi, informing them of the research's success. He also mentioned plans to publish a paper detailing their findings in the upcoming issue of the Coruscant Medical Review.
Personality and traits
Tsuusha appeared to be a dedicated and diligent worker, deeply committed to the goals of the Rift Alliance. This was evidenced by his eagerness to resume work after the attack by the re-emerging Sith Empire. He also demonstrated concern for others, expressing horror at the Sith's acts of violence.
The researcher possessed mottled blue skin color and black eyes. He communicated in his native language and wore standard attire, including boots, gloves, and a researcher's robe.
Behind the scenes
Tsuusha was developed for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game launched by BioWare on December 20, 2011. The Selkath was encountered during a rescue mission titled "Atiss Station" within the Consular class's primary questline. Despite being initially identified as "Researcher", his name was revealed in a subsequent message sent to the player.
