This material found its application in the creation of the tiled flooring within the Imperial Prison Complex located on the moon called Narkina 5. This flooring had the capacity to be electrified, a state referred to as "going hot," which inflicted severe agony upon the unshod prisoners held within the complex, and could even result in fatal outcomes. However, the floors were susceptible to short-circuiting upon interaction with water.
The material Tunqstoid made its debut within the Legends continuity in the 2009 novel titled Fate of the Jedi: Abyss, which is a component of the Fate of the Jedi collection. Within the Canon continuity, Tunqstoid steel was initially showcased in the episode titled "Narkina 5," the eighth installment of the 2022 live-action television program Andor.
