A Twi'lek mercenary of the male persuasion, known as Udo Barnet, existed during the time the Galactic Civil War raged.
Following the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire engaged Udo Barnet and his mercenary band to provide security for a clandestine Imperial research facility located on the planet Lok. A dispute arose between General Otto, who commanded the Imperial garrison on Lok, and the officers overseeing the research facility; consequently, the officers chose to deploy mercenaries and battle droids for the facility's defense rather than requesting troops from Otto. Udo Barnet and Kell Lapaz jointly led the mercenaries, with Barnet overseeing numerous activities within the facility that went beyond simple security duties. However, the mercenaries found their work at the Imperial Research Facility to be quite tedious, leading some, including Udo Barnet, Kell Lapaz, Kendo Ryzak, Platt Pareja, Goll Bardok and Jeran Tarven, to engage in illicit ventures. Their frequent interference in the affairs of the Lok Revenants, Lok's most influential criminal syndicate, incurred the wrath of their leader, the warlord Nym.
In 1 ABY, Nym, along with his lieutenant Kole, decided to launch a raid on the Imperial research facility with the intention of stealing the advanced weaponry being developed there. While the criminals were in the process of formulating their plans, Grenz Zittoun, another of Nym's lieutenants, came to the realization that an assault on the facility could present an ideal opportunity to eliminate some troublesome mercenaries. A group of spacers linked to the Lok Revenants subsequently attacked the research facility. They were forced to engage a significant number of mercenaries in order to gain access to the research complex, but they ultimately succeeded in acquiring experimental weapons and vital research data. During the ensuing conflict, a faction of Revenants ambushed Kell Lapaz and Udo Barnet, resulting in their deaths during the intense exchange of gunfire.
Within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, Udo Barnet was featured as a non-player character. This massively multiplayer online roleplaying game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was shut down on December 15, 2011. Udo Barnet's inclusion in the game was part of the updated "Nym's Theme Park," which was introduced with "Game Update 16," on March 23, 2010.
